Church-Wide Trip to Washington D.C.

GABC will be offering a “church-wide” trip to Washington DC to tour the new Museum of the Bible on Friday, August 17, 2018.  This trip will be on a first come, first serve basis; we only have 39 spots available!  The cost will be approximately $45 a person based on full occupancy.  This would include the cost of the bus and the suggested $12 donation for the museum.

We would leave the church at 8:00 AM.  The plan would be to have lunch and tour the museum for approximately 3-4 hours and arrive back in Richmond between 6-7 PM.  A big thanks to Matt Davidson and Al Thompson with their help in coordinating this event.  If you are interested in reserving a spot, please reach out to B.J. directly via e-mail (wjcrowderjr.gabc@gmail.com) or phone.  Remember…we only have 39 spots available so get your name on the list ASAP!

Youth News

A big thank you to Allen Jenkins and Tim Cooper for helping to chaperone a youth group trip to the Goochland Drive-In on May 11.  We had a great time of fellowship and fun and even had a fun experience with a temporary downpour in the middle of the first movie!

June 10 is Graduation/Youth Sunday at GABC.  This is a special time for all of our graduates as we celebrate each and every one of them that morning.  In addition, the Youth will be responsible for the entire order of service that day.  We look forward to this great opportunity as we “send off” our most recent graduates.

ATTENTION YOUTH and ADULTS going on the Passport Mission Trip from June 24-29, there will be a mandatory mission trip meeting directly after church on Sunday, June 10th.  Please make sure you are there so that we can finalize all of the details for the trip.

A big thanks to Allen Jenkins and Josh Stone for helping chaperone the Generosity Feeds program that the Youth participated in on May 19.  Several youth and adults went to the Veritas School where we packed 15,000 meals in just about 2 hours!  This is the first time GABC has participated in this mission project.  It was a great time to give back to help others.

150th Anniversary Update

150th Anniversary Team Meeting – will be on Sunday, June 3, 2018 in the Fellowship Hall. We will be looking for additional ideas our church can do for our 150th Jubilee Anniversary.

DON’T FORGET to sign up/pre-order your 150th Commemorative Plates and Trivets.

Each of these items will have a single color illustration of our church on it, and the 9 ¼ inch plates will have our church’s history fired on the back.  The 6”x 6” square trivets will have cork backing so the history cannot be applied to them.  Display stands for the plates will also be offered for purchase.  These items make wonderful gifts for yourself, your family, or anyone who has a special place in their heart for Glen Allen Baptist Church.  Sign Up sheets for those interested in purchasing any of these items will be placed just outside the Sanctuary, (organ side), and in the Welcome Center.  The plates will be sold for $15, the trivets for $10 and the plate stands for $3.  Proceeds from the sale of these items will go toward the Welcome Center building debt. They will only be ordered for those that have signed up.  You will pay for them when you pick them up. The sooner you sign up, the quicker we can order them.  Please contact Kelda Flinchum with any questions, at kelda116@verizon.net .
