Youth News

The Youth Committee will meet directly following the Worship Service in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, January 14th.  If you are a member of this committee, please plan on attending this meeting.  

Attention Youth:  Let’s celebrate the end of exams on Friday, January 26th with a trip to G Force where we will ride the Go-Karts and play Lasertag!  What a great way to have some great fellowship and fun after a long week of exams.  Please let B.J. know by Sunday, January 14th if you plan on attending.

King’s Fest is back!  The Youth at GABC will be going to King’s Fest for the 5th consecutive year on Friday, June 22nd.  We only have a few tickets remaining…if you are interested in going, please let B.J. know ASAP.

Mark your calendars now…the annual GABC Youth Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, March 10.  This year we will also be selling Brunswick Stew.  We look forward to a great event as always.  Further information will be coming as we approach this date.

1/10/17 Church Family Night Dinner and Program

Wednesday, January 10, 2018, our Church Family Night Dinner and Program will be at 5:45 p.m.  Cost of supper is $5/pp, $1.50 per child and a maximum of $15 per family. Please join us for good food and fellowship!  We will then have a program on “Suicide Prevention – Talk Saves Lives” will be led by community member Shirley Ramsey.  She is the chairperson of the Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.  She is a survivor of suicide loss of multiple family members.  Since the loss of her 16-year-old son in 2010, she has been committed to bringing awareness and suicide prevention programs to our communities and strives to provide support for those touched by suicide.  Shirley holds an MEd in Counselor Education from VCU.  She hopes to bring you knowledge that engages our communities in being smart about mental health and encourages safe communities for all.  Please join us for this educational program.

On the same evening (January 10), a new Bible Study group will begin in the Faith and Fellowship Classroom at 6:30 PM. The group will focus on reading and discussing the word of God on a regular basis (schedule to be determined after the first meeting). We will start with the book of Matthew and see where that goes. Lunch a Month Bunch

The luncheon for all ladies in GABC will be at Smoke Pit Grill Tuesday January 16 at 1:00 pm (Kroger Shopping Plaza, 9074 Staples Mill Rd).  If you have questions please call Chris Rogers (262-0485) home/cell 339-3719) or Joyce Hall (266-1921).  Remember all are welcome. It is a great way to get to know each other.  We need to make reservations on Sunday January 14 before 5:00PM.  Mark your calendars for the third Tuesday of each month.  Open for suggestions of where to go.  Remember it needs to be not too far away and easy entry access. If we have snow and ice we will not meet.
