Kairos Prison Ministry

Tom Ball will be leading Kairos #53 at Greensville Correctional Center 4/23-4/26.  You can participate in this amazing ministry in the following ways:

Cookies – As a team, we take over 3,000 dozen home baked cookies in with us.  I need at least 125 dozen by Tuesday 4/21.  I can accept these cookies at any time between now and then as I will freeze them.  There is a container outside of the Youth Pastor’s office to accept these offerings of love.  The types of cookies that are generally acceptable are:  Oatmeal, Peanut Butter, Molasses, Chocolate Chip, Ginger and Sugar.  Cookies should be between 2 inches and 2 1/2 inches in diameter and not more than 1/2 inch thick.  Bag thoroughly cooled cookies in a quart sized Zip Lock bag, a dozen cookies to a bag.  Label each bag with the cookie type inside.  Pray individually or as a family over the ingredients before and during mixing.  Cookies cannot have any large pieces of fruit, nuts, or candies, and cannot have a sugar coating or icing.

Prayer – Prayer is the most important part of the weekend.  Please let me know if you are willing to pray for this ministry.

Donations –  It costs approximately $50 per resident to attend a Kairos weekend.  If you would like to support a candidate attending this weekend, please make your check payable to:  Kairos of VA, and put “GRCC S-2 K53” in the memo field.

Matthew 25:34-36 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creating of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

Thank you so much for your support of God’s work in this powerful ministry. ~Tom Ball

Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday

We will be observing Maundy Thursday this year with a traditional Seder Service (complimentary Passover Meal) on Thursday, April 2nd.  Passover is the Jewish Holiday when the Jewish people recount their ancestors’ descent into Egypt and recall their suffering and persecution.

Many of you will remember our Passover Suppers from the past.  This service will be similar; reverent and symbolic of the traditions that the Jewish people have observed for thousands of years.

A nursery will be provided for children who may be uncomfortable in such a formal setting.  There will be no age limit for this nursery.  Pizza will be brought in for the children at no cost to the parents.

To help us prepare, we ask that you sign up by March 28th.  Signup sheets will be placed in various spots throughout the church.  We hope you will join us for this special service on Thursday, April 2nd at 5:45 PM.
