Youth News

A big thank you to Allen Jenkins & Debbie Bretches for leading the middle school Passport Mission Trip! The group of 12 went to Greensboro College in North Carolina and spent a week discipling to others and coming closer to God. Everyone had a wonderful time and we are glad everyone is home safely.
A big thank you to Corinne Abernathy for helping to lead the high school Tri-Cities Workcamp Mission Trip! A group of 11 went to Dinwiddie, Colonial Heights, and Petersburg, VA and spent a week fixing and repairing homes in an area that needed it the most. Many of these residents would otherwise not have been able to afford the work that was completed. Everyone had a wonderful time and we are all back home safe.
Richmond Flying Squirrels Faith Night is next Thursday, August 10. This is a last call for anyone wishing to attend. The youth will have the opportunity to take the field and sing the national anthem with the players. Tickets are only $10 each. Bring your whole family! If you are interested in attending, please let B.J. know today.

Lamb’s Basket Fundraiser Change

The next Tomato Sandwich Fundraiser was originally scheduled for Saturday August 19, 2017. The date is being CHANGED to Saturday, August 5, 2017 – same place (pantry) same time. Same good

food and fellowship, too. The reason for this change can be blamed on Mother Nature. Tomatoes are coming in fast and furious now but may not be in mid to late August. So Nancy Yeary has asked to move the event up so that there will be assurance of plenty of ripe tomatoes. If you have already made your reservations for the original date and can attend on the revised date, Do Nothing. Just show up on the rescheduled date. All reservations for the original date will be moved to the new date. However, if you are unable to keep the original date, please call Donna Washington at 804-437-4363. Thank you.

Missionary Moment for July

The month of July brings many mission opportunities for the youth of the church to participate in. July 9, our middle school youth went to Passport: Choices in Greensboro, NC. Each student will choose an area of service that he or she is interested in learning about. They will be trained and given the chance to practice serving the Lord in that area. High school students left for Tri-Cities Workcamp in Petersburg July 16. They will be working alongside more than 200 youth and adult leaders to make an impact in the community through home repairs for those in need. At the end of the month, our younger children in Vacation Bible School will have the opportunity to support Lamb’s Basket and Operation Christmas Child through a special offering each day. Please be in prayer for our youth as they serve the Lord as missionaries in our community this month!
