Leadership Development Conference Information

The 2017 Leadership Development Conference will be on Monday, Sept. 25, Branch’s Baptist Church, 3400 Broad Rock Blvd. Richmond.  Meal included, 5:15 p.m.-8:15 p.m.  You can pick from a list of 15 sessions and attend two of them. Sessions include:

  • “Discipling Digital Teens”, “Connecting with Your Neighbors to Connect Them to Christ and Your Church”, “Face to Face
  • Ministry in an Instagram Society”, “A Mission Small Enough to Fit on a License Plate, but Big Enough to Change the World”

Youth News

The annual Swim Party will be on Wednesday, August 30 at the Glen Allen Community Center from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Come enjoy and celebrate our last activity of the summer as we head into the Fall. Pizza and drinks will be provided. The cost is $5 per person and feel free to bring a friend!

The Youth Committee will meet directly after church in the Fellowship Hall today.  Lunch will be provided.

We already have about 20 folks signed up for our annual 2017 Fall Youth Camping Retreat on October 13-15.This has become one of our most popular activities throughout the years and it is sure to be again this year.  It is time for me to begin ordering tickets for certain activities for the trip.  With that being said, Sunday, September 3 will be the deadline to sign up.  The sooner I know your attendance, the better.  We will be camping at the James River State Park near Lynchburg and will go to the Snowflex on Liberty Mountain, possibly attend a Liberty University football game, and go to Scaremare.  If you are interested, please let B.J. know.

Glen Allen Day 2017 is Saturday, September 23 from 9:30-3:00p.  The theme is “Glen Allen, A Great Place to Grow Up”.  We will gather at 8 am at the home of Charlie and Denise Martin in Deer Springs to decorate our float and line up for the parade.  We hope you will plan to participate in the parade and visit our booth

Sunday School Moving Up Ceremony

On Sunday, August 27, 2017, all Sunday School classes will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:15 am.  At this time we will recognize our children and youth who are moving up to new classes and say thank you to our many leaders and volunteers.  We will meet quickly, and then the children and youth will disperse into their Sunday School classes.  The adult classes will remain in the Fellowship Hall for a joint Sunday School lesson.

Lunch a Month Bunch

LUNCH A MONTH BUNCH: The luncheon for all ladies in GABC will be at Debbie’s Kitchen Tuesday August 15 at 1:00 pm. Lambs Basket Update

Our July 31, 2017, Lambs Basket pick up was 132 pounds. Thank you for those who participated and to those of you who forgot, we have a brand new month! I found a really great bargain at Food Lion the other day: Buy one get one free of large name brand cereal. Someone had given me money to make a purchase! Four boxes of cereal and four cans of baked beans for $10. I cannot say enough what your contributions mean to me, our church and our community.
